Our 100th year was finally over yesterday, March 3rd and what a year it was. The Time Capsule was buried next to the caboose on Friday, witnessed by a small group of councillors, public works crew and a couple of bystanders. The artists are determined to give us perfection. They are not willing to hurry through the final stages of [...] [...] [ October 5, 2012; 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm. ] In celebration of the City of Duncan’s Centenary in 2012 the Duncan BIA, in partnership with the Cowichan Valley Museum & Archives and the Centennial Committee of the City of Duncan, is pleased to announce the official opening of a new outdoor historical exhibit, Duncan’s V.I. – the story of the settlement of Duncan. The [...] [...] [ October 26, 2012; 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. ] Meetings have been held between the fountain designers and developers and the staff at Public Works to make sure that everything will be properly in place for the fountain installation prior to October 26th. The sculpture is complete and has been sliced into pieces preparatory to the creation of a mold and the casting of the [...] [...] After a relatively quiet afternoon in City Square for Intercultural Day hosted by the wonderful people at Cowichan Green Community, the energy ramped up considerably by 7:00 when over 600 people packed the square to hear and dance to Delhi 2 Dublin. For just over an hour and a half without a break the Punjabi/Celtic [...] [...] Thanks to Jolly Roger Ranch in Cowichan Station for this wonderful 5 minute video of our event on July 15th. Racing legend Steve Krevier is on a borrowed yellow bike with red leathers, #14. He is the man who thanks the City of Duncan at the end. 2012 Duncan Supermoto Street Challenge from Jolly [...] [...] Cowichan Green Community has a wonderful line up of performers for us starting at noon on Sunday, July 22nd. Musicians include Bopoma Marimba, Latin Groove, 100 Voices Choir and the Spirit Drummers. There will be food from a variety of different cultures a story catching tent and things to do for children. And it is all [...] [...] The race from the viewpoint of a racer’s helmet cam. We got great media coverage! Duncan was positively featured across the country in a way that has not happened for many years. Calvin, of the Supermoto Club wrote us: “Great support from traditional media (Radio, Print & TV) with 6 media interviews pre and post event, 4 [...] [...] Preregistration is now closed, but turn up and register from 9:30 on at the Duncan Firehall.
