In 1998, we entered a Canadian Water Competition in Banff and won the “Third Best Water in Canada” Award. We entered again in 1999 and won “The Best Water in Canada!” Our best kept secret is no longer a secret.
To celebrate our 100th Birthday, we have decided to go for the gold in 2012. We are entering two water competitions this year.
The first was the Berkeley Springs Winter Festival of the Waters in Virginia. This has been problematic, in that they require the entries to be placed in two, one gallon glass containers. Not only do we not have gallons in Canada, but new 4 litre containers are very expensive.
Enter Linda Dilks from Great Fermentations on the Trans Canada Highway, who said, “Go to the bottle depot, I bet they have some!” And indeed, the Bottle Depot had two one gallon containers at 70¢ each! Not really enough to break the bank. But they were pretty dirty.
Back to Linda who donated a cup of pink bleach powder to sterilize the jugs. Thank you, Linda. Then one of her customers came forward with two, pre-sterilized gallon jugs. Wow. Thank you so much! Despite all our efforts, the contest was won by Greenwood, BC.
The Second competition will be during the summer in Banff and hopefully, we will win that one!
